This album is the result of almost 2 years of production, starting in early 2020. This album would not have been possible if it weren’t for Isg, hern, arimyth, and everyone else who helped inspire and produce these songs. The album is composed fully in Auxy, and contains very few external samples. I wanted to create something as true to auxy as possible, so only a few songs use the melodic sampler. These tracks include Stairways (for some of the rumble towards the end of the build) and Bromine (for the synths in the intro, all of the sounds were serum patches I made in FL and exported to auxy). Other than that, there are no external samples in the entire album.

The theme for the album I had when going in was “Dystopian” or “Apocalyptic”, and I think I somewhat succeeded. Early tracks like “Ratios” and “Ragnarok” capture a more major or melancholic sound, but later tracks like “Implode” and “Stairways” definitely get the dystopian theme I was going for.

I’d also like to specifically thank Hern, as they are consistently one of the greatest producers out there in the auxy scene. They helped throw in ideas for over half the tracks on the album, and they were of course the main collaborator on the title track “Stairways”. If you have not already, please go follow hern, they will not disappoint.

The album can be split pretty well into a couple distinct sections style wise, all being made at different points throughout the album. The first three tracks make up the “melancholic” section, all having chords which don’t point to a major or minor sound. The second section takes place from broken Traces up to bromine, and it consists of mostly bass heavy pieces in an unclear electronic style. After this comes the most experimental section, consisting of “Chambers” and “Stairways”. This section has a lot of heavy distortion and unique drum styles, and has some of the longer songs on the album. The final section is the longest, and is the synthwave section. The last four songs on the album all in some part have synthwave influences or go out into full on synthwave.
